Cliff Fountain

Cliff Fountain passed away in the early morning of Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the age of 87 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Cliff is survived by his wife of 62 years, two children and their spouses, a grandchild and spouse, and an expected great-grandchild. Cliff attended school in Junction City, and went on to work for Whilshire’s Photography of Eugene, Ore., after high school. Cliff graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in physics, and later received a degree in materials engineering from Stanford University.

Cliff served in the U.S.Air Force as a special investigator, and later worked at the U.S. Navy’s Naval Ordnance Test Station/Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, from 1961 to his retirement, when he moved to Eugene. Cliff was an accomplished engineer and scientist, photographer, maker of useful things, tinkerer, wily card and chess player, aficionado of cookies and ice cream and exceptional friend, provider, father and husband.

Private memorial services will be held for family members at a later date.
