Ridgecrest man killed in motorcycle crash

A Ridgecrest man was killed in an off-roading accident on Sunday, March 18. After sustaining major injuries, Troy C. Polton, 44, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital at 6:46 p.m.

California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to the collision on an unpaved part of Bowman Road, west of Brown Road at 3:45 p.m. According to the release, Polton was ejected from his quad off-road vehicle after hitting an uneven patch of road and sustained major injuries.

He was treated on the scene by Kern County Fire Department personnel before being transferred to RRH. According to the release, Polton was wearing a helmet, and the incident is still under investigation. Any witnesses to the collision are encouraged to contact the Mojave CHP office at 661-823-5500.
