Matta to speak to High Desert Democrats

The Democratic Club of the High Desert will host congressional candidate Tatiana Matta at the group’s Saturday, March 17, meeting, 11:30 a.m., at China Lake Buffet.

She plans to run as a Democratic candidate, along with Wendy Reed of Lancaster, for the 23rd Congressional District seat now occupied by Bakersfield Republican Kevin McCarthy.

Matta, a native of Puerto Rico before moving to Delaware, now lives in Rosamond. She runs a strategic consulting service for nonprofit organizations and political candidates.

She is married to Capt. Eugenio Matta, a bio-environmental engineer at Edwards Air Force Base. The couple live with their son, Kevin, and plan to make their current East Kern community their permanent home.

The public is invited to attend. There is no admission fee, but members and guests are responsible for purchasing their own food and beverages.
