The Ridgecrest Police Department is still seeking a suspect in the armed robbery of 1-Stop Market last Friday morning.

The incident’s proximity to Immanuel Christian School prompted a “large amount of support from surrounding agencies” according to the press release. The school was locked down and law-enforcement officials set up a large perimeter, but the suspect managed to escape.

Surveillance footage shows a masked man entering the store, followed by the clerk who was outside smoking. The clerk reportedly asked the suspect to remove his mask, and the suspect allegedly responded that it was to keep his face warm. He then reportedly brandished a handgun and told the clerk to give him the money out of the cash register.

Two videos are available on the RPD’s Facebook page. Visible are only the suspect’s hands, which were described as being a “darker complexion.” Authorities suspect that the culprit is also responsible for robbing a Knights of Columbus bingo game earlier this month. During the prior incident, the suspect was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male of medium height and build.

Anybody with information is encouraged to contact the department at 760-499-5100.
