McCarthy cites China Lake’s importance to defense in passage of Budget ActHouse Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy: “Our community’s contribution to national security and military readiness is second to none. The research, development, testing and evaluation conducted at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake pushes the boundaries of innovation to give our men and women in uniform the best equipment, technology, and weaponry to execute their mission and keep us safe. For too long our military resources have been cut indiscriminately, which has led to deficiencies in human capital and hard dollars. This has hurt our military and it has hurt our community. This necessary increase in defense spending reprioritizes our government’s commitment to keep our servicemembers and country safe. This budget agreement will help ensure critical projects like the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile Extended Range (AARGM-ER) developed in coordination with China Lake, move ahead expeditiously. I look forward to working to ensure this and other programs are funded in the upcoming Fiscal Year 2018 appropriations bill. Our community is proud of our contributions to a strong national defense and this agreement will prepare us to continue to do so for years to come.”
