Death Valley — Mesquite Springs Campground reopens

Death Valley — Mesquite Springs Campground reopensMesquite Springs Campground in Death Valley National Park reopens for public use. The access road was damaged by flooding in July. As repair work was being completed, an unusual “microburst” storm with strong winds on Sept. 11 tore part of the roof off of a restroom. All sites and facilities are now open at the campground. Mesquite Springs Campground is noteworthy for affording the best night sky viewing of all the developed campgrounds in Death Valley. The campground is often used by local astronomy clubs. — Courtesy photo by Kurt Moses
