After finding receiving a call about an unattended young child on Tuesday, Ridgecrest Police officers arrested a Ridgecrest man for child endangerment and drug charges.

According to the RPD release, police received a call around 10 a.m. about a child found in the 700 block of West Reeves Avenue. After locating the 3-4-year-old boy, officers searched the area extensively “for the better part of an hour,” before finding the child’s residence.

Officers knocked on the door where they woke the father, suspect Daniel Donner, 26, who was reportedly sleeping and unaware that the child was missing.

Officers determined that Donner was under the influence of a controlled substance and that the residence was in “deplorable” condition with drug paraphernalia within the child’s reach.

Donner was arrested for being under the influence of controlled substance, child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

He was booked in the Bakersfield Central Receiving Facility with a $52,000 bail. Court information is not yet available.
