Donna ‘Jo’ RicheyOur good friend Donna “Jo” Richey died Jan. 17, 2018. She was born on Aug. 10, 1933, in Warrensburg, Mo., and earned her bachelor of science in business education from the University of Central Missouri.

Jo worked for IBM as an executive secretary and administrative assistant to the managers of both the Kansas City and Minneapolis offices. She also taught seminars for secretarial and office personnel throughout the Midwestern District of IBM.

She moved to China Lake in 1964 and began a long career contributing to the mission of the Naval Weapons Center. Her positions included administrative assistant to the commander (through five NWC commanders), budget analyst for the Electronic Warfare Department (Code 35), and head of staff /administrative officer for the Aircraft Department (Code 61). She finished her career as a management analyst for the Model Installation Program Initiative Office.

Jo had an active retirement, working as a color consultant for Beauty for All Seasons, playing golf, and creating beautiful handmade greeting cards. She was an active member of the American Association of University Women, the National Association of Female Executives, China Lake Women’s Golf Club and the Desert Art League. But the activity that gave her the greatest joy was being “Auntie Jo” to our children.

Her memorial service will be at Crossroads Community Church on Friday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.

Her family and friends would like to thank the caring staff at Bella Sera who provided her great comfort in her last months.
