Volunteers needed for senior tax help

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest volunteer-run tax preparation service, is seeking volunteers to assist seniors in the coming tax season.

The service is open to low- to middle-income taxpayers 60 and older who are looking for help filing their 2017 income-tax forms. Volunteers work at the Ridgecrest Senior Center and the RRH Senior Services office.

“We are in great need of more tax-return volunteers to keep these valuable programs going,” said Jan Bennett, local program coordinator. “Last year we did more than 200 tax returns for seniors and others in the community, but this program needs enough tax preparers in order to give good service.”

She said volunteers will be working Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
