To the Editor: Knights say thanks

On Christmas Day, the Knights of Columbus sponsored the 24th Annual Free Christmas Dinner for those who would be alone, those in need or just anyone who wanted to be there. It was open to all. Special thanks to the many who donated food or money and to those very many others, who cooked, served, delivered or helped clean up. Very special thanks to the families who shared their talent and performed continuous Christmas music. This event could not have taken place without all the generous help and support from across the community.

In the four hours the Christmas dinner was served, 539 dinners were prepared, with 345 of those delivered or taken out to the homebound. Thirty-one turkeys were deep-pit barbecued. Many pounds of ham and all the trimmings were made ready. The meal and the festive atmosphere combined to make those in attendance feel welcome and special.
