Conservation  district to  discuss  programs for  landownersThe Eastern Kern County Resource Conservation District, in partnership with the California Department of Conservation, the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency, will host a workshop on programs for landowners on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the Desert Valleys Credit Union Community Resource Center.

“If you are an agricultural producer, hobby farmer or landowner who is interested in conserving natural resources like water, soil, habitat or wildlife, you will want to attend to see how the NRCS’ cost-share programs can help,” said Nancy Gooch, administrative assistance of EKCRCD.

Guest speakers will include local pistachio farmer Pat Quist, who will discuss her farm and the Conservation Stewardship Program and Environmental Quality Incentive Program.

NRCS District Conservationist Phillip Dixon and NRCS Soil Conservationists Paul Nguyen and Madeline Voldahl will also be available to answer questions and present information about signing up for the programs.

Donny McKinney from the Farm Service Agency will be on hand to discuss FSA programs.
