Stephen Benson

Stephen BensonOn Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, Stephen Benson passed away at the age of 72 years.

Steve was born Feb. 21, 1945, in Litchfield, Minn. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1963 and from the University of Delaware in 1967. Steve began work at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center as an aerospace engineer and spent his entire career there before retiring in 1997.

Steve loved to travel, especially to Central and South America. He enjoyed wildlife, whale watching and bluegrass music. He enjoyed playing his ukulele while singing to his granddaughters. He also volunteered at the Maturango Museum.

He is survived by his son David Benson of Phoenix, daughter Vickie Fisher of Quartz Hill, brother Larry Benson of Albuquerque and sisters Barbara Radomski of Indianapolis and Karen Benson of Portland. Steve will also be lovingly remembered by his five granddaughters, Samantha, Alexis, Kalie and Janae Benson and Audrey Fisher.

A family service will be held in the spring in the Santa Barbara Channel following Steve’s wishes.
