Thousands filled the bleachers on a chilly Friday last week to watch the Burroughs High School Burros play their first CIF Division 9 Championship game since 2005, and the first ever in our home stadium. Following a string of decisive victories by the Burros, the final game ended 24-6 in Aquinas Falcons’s favor, landing BHS in second place.

While the outcome of the championship was a disappointment to the players, many of whom have been playing together for nearly a decade, the team finished with one of Burroughs’s strongest-ever football seasons.

Businesses stayed open late after games and BHS held a pregame bonfire for the first time in recent history. Not only did the town really behind our team, but many across the nation did after the Burros’ displays of on-field patriotism garnered national media attention.

The Burros will lead our Christmas parade Saturday morning. See editorial:http://www.news-ridgecrest.com/news/story.pl?id=0000007787.
