The Indian Wells Valley Water District will meet Monday evening, 6 p.m. While agenda information was not available at press time, district representatives have said that data from the recent SkyTEM fly-over survey would be available for review this month.

The electromagnetic tool used by SkyTEM identifies groundwater material, such as sand and gravel, where water may be stored. Deposits that are more conductive because of salt content “show up more readily” according to Bill Brown, regional manager for SkyTEM North America.

While the survey doesn’t immediately identify depth and availability of water, its identification of aquifer materials will lead to fresh water in many cases, said Brown.

IWVWD General Manager Don Zdeba said he’s optimistic that the survey would lead to a more comprehensive understanding of out basin and that the data would be ready to review this month.

The water district meets every second Monday at the district office, 500 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. Agenda information will be made available at www.iwvwd. com/board-of-directors/board-meeting-agendas/.
