Auditions set for ‘Exit Prima Donna’

Auditions set for ‘Exit Prima Donna’Master Mystery Productions is teaming up with the Amargosa Opera House in Death Valley to bring to life a new interactive mystery, and producers are putting out a casting call for performers.

Auditions for “Exit Prima Donna” will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15-16, from 5-7 p.m. at Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church.

The production will be staged in March and April, with rehearsal schedules to be determined after casting.

The murder-mystery opera is set in Venice, Italy, in 1899, when the performers and crew of a grand opera house plan to hold a masquerade to celebrate the end of their season.

But when the prima donna vanishes without a trace, and her dresser is found murdered in a dressing room, the shadowy secrets and hidden passions of the opera house are exposed.

“We need singers and actors of all stripes to put on this show,” said Director Daniel Stallings, who also wrote the script. Performers will be asked to perform one-and-a-half to two minutes of an operatic song and to read select passages from the script.

Roles are available for four female and three male leads, with additional parts for members of the chorus. Actors must be 15 years or older. Any performer younger than 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian, who must also be present at rehearsals.
