Arthur E. Owens II

Arthur E. Owens II, a retired mechanical engineer for China Lake naval base, passed away from a blood virus at home in Ventura on Nov. 14, 2017. He was 63.

A service will be held Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at St Ann’s Catholic Church. A reception will follow.

Born Dec. 8, 1953, in Erie, Pa., Arthur moved to Van Nuys in 1958 with his family. He received his bachelor of science at UCLA. He then moved to Ridgecrest in 1979. He received his master of arts in Bakersfield. Arthur moved to Ventura for care from youngest daughter Marissa for his final months.

Arthur enjoyed camping, any family time and woodworking. He was a member of the local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years. He worked for China Lake NAWS for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his sister, Denise Mackenstadt of Sequim, Wash.; youngest daughter Marissa Owens of Ventura; youngest son Christopher Owens of Fayettville, Ark.; eldest son Caleb Owens of Grass Valley and four grandchildren.
