Pre-game bonfire rally is Thursday

Pre-game bonfire rally is ThursdaySHERMAN E. BURROUGHS HIGH SCHOOL — For the first time in decades, we will have a bonfire rally this Thursday evening beginning at 7:30 PM (weather permitting). All of the permits have been submitted and permission has been granted for this event. The team’s theme this year is "One team, One town." So, instead of having a student-only rally during the school day, we decided to have a community rally Thursday night.

There is no cost and all are welcome. In addition to the bonfire, we will have several motivational speeches, comments from some of the players, a "hype" video and there will be a DJ keeping the party going.

Timeline of events:

-Students/community can arrive as early as 6:30 for the event.

-The team will not arrive until approximately 7:15.

-The voice of Burros Football, James Bell, will Emcee the event.

-We will begin the program at 7:30.

-Depending on the length of some of the speeches and the "hype" video, we plan to ignite the fire at approximately 8:00.

-Once the program is completed, attendees are encouraged to sit by the fire, visit with one another, and to be entertained by the DJ.

Please be aware of the following:

-Like the football games on Friday night, this is a school event. Therefore, tobacco products, alcohol, and any other stimulants are strictly prohibited.

-The rally will take place in the vacant dirt area immediately North of the Handicapped & TD Club parking area.

-Please park in designated parking spaces throughout campus. There will be "event parking" on the gravel peninsula across from the administration building as well.

-Those who cannot stand for long periods of time are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

-Because of the fire regulations we must follow, the area where the event will take place is on an uneven dirt lot with loose gravel. Please plan accordingly.

-There will be access to the football field concession stand restrooms.

Before we "pack the stands" on Friday night, let’s show our support by coming out to the bonfire rally Thursday evening. We hope to see you there.
