‘Christmas is Real’ is Dec. 15, 16

Singers from numerous local churches are getting together to present “Christmas Is Real,” a cantata by Travis Cottrell, Sue C. Smith and David Moffitt. The musical offering will occur Friday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., with both performances held at the Ridgecrest Church of the Nazarene.

Members of the Nazarene church, as well as Immanuel Baptist Church, Inyokern Baptist Church and Ridgecrest Seventh-Day Adventist Church will perform what a critic has described as “an electrifying Christmas worship experience.”

“For the church, Christmas isn’t just a warm, nostalgic tale,” said a spokesperson. “It’s the Word-became-flesh, God-coming-to-rescue-us story.

“We say this is a story that really happened on an incredible night long ago. We say this ancient story can make a difference in every life today. This season, we encourage you with this — Christmas is real. There are real hope, love, joy and peace available to all of us right here and right now.”

The public is invited to attend.
