To the Editor: Comments on rising gas prices

Interesting. I filled up a vehicle with fuel on Oct. 27 and paid $2.739 per gallon. At that same station on Nov. 19 I was charged $2.939 per gallon.

We were warned that a new gas tax of 12¢ would start in November, but were also told the increase would be mitigated because the change from summer to winter mix would reduce the price at the pump, helping to offset the increase.

I guess the stations decided it would be a good time to “sock it to us” by raising the gas price 20¢, since no one would notice the difference or because we are a captive audience here in the Indian Wells Valley.
