Pearl Mazuleni

Pearl MazuleniPearl Mazuleni passed away peacefully in her sleep Oct. 30, 2017, in Daly City. A longtime resident of her beloved Ridgecrest, Mom never let a day go by without mentioning Ridgecrest and her friends.

Only child of Nick Mazuleni and Mary Ruljancich of Vis, Croatia, Pearl was born at home in Sacramento on Dec. 14, 1930.

Mom graduated from Sacramento High in 1949. She went on to attend Sacramento City College. She worked for a year at the Bon Marche in Sacramento to save up money for X-ray training. Upon graduation and certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists in 1953, she held her first job at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco and then worked in Sutter Hospital in Sacramento.

Pearl married Joseph Socolich in 1955 in Sacramento. They raised their family in Sacramento, Greenbelt, Md., and Ridgecrest. Pearl was an X-ray technician at Drummond Medical Center for many years.

Her second career was as a contract specialist on the base, a job she really enjoyed, especially when she was assigned to go on travel. She had the opportunity of going to Naples, Italy, and Hawaii on travel.

Pearl loved classical music and opera, traveling and learning about other cultures and keeping up with current events.

Pearl is survived by James and Gwynn Socolich and son Joshua; Julie and Robert Byrd and daughter Kathryn and son Robert; cousins Jeannie, Mike, Carol and Joe Tudesko of the Sacramento area; and many close friends in Ridgecrest.

Graveside service will be held on Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery and Funeral Center, 6509 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, CA 95820.
