Two Indian Wells Valley Groundwater Authority committees met Thursday morning to review comments and provide additional input regarding the authority’s Proposition 1 grant application. Last month the IWVGA approved the application, pending some additional discussion, to acquire some $2.5 million in funds for the state to achieve groundwater sustainability.

The Policy Advisory and Technical Advisory committees are meeting to discuss more than 100 comments on the application, drafted by water resource management firm Stetson Engineering. The application must be submitted by Nov. 13.

Members of the GA board are hoping to avoid calling a special meeting to finally approve the application and have authorized Stetson to move forward with any small or routine changes that may come as a result of the committee meetings.

For more IWVGA information, see kerncounty.com/Water Resources.aspx. The board will meet next on Thursday, Nov. 16.
