Modesto quilter to give program

Cathie Hoover of Modesto will give the program at the Hi Desert Quilt Guild’s meeting on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Salvation Army meeting room. Hoover will present a “Retrospective Trunk Show.” Members will be admitted free, and guests will be admitted for $5 each.

“Cathie has accomplished just about everything with fabric, including dressmaking, knitting with fabric, quilting and quilted wearable art,” said a spokesperson.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Chico State University. She has also studied tailoring, pattern-drafting and weaving. Her specialties include all types of machine applique, machine embellishments with decorative stitches, laces, braids and rickrack.

Since 1988, she has taught quilting workshops and given lectures throughout California and much of the United States.
