Fatality on 395 & Bowman

Fatality on 395 & BowmanEmergency service personnel respond to the scene of a collision that claimed the life of a 56-year-old Ridgecrest man in the early morning hours of Sept. 7. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the intersection of Highway 395 and Bowman Road around 5:30 a.m. Reports indicate that a 55-year-old Ridgecrest man was driving a 2003 Ford F150 westbound at an unknown speed on Bowman with a passenger in tow. He allegedly approached the stop sign at the 395 intersection. The driver of a freightliner, towing a utility trailer, was heading southbound on 395 approaching Bowman. CHP reports indicate that the driver of the Ford failed to stop, and was subsequently struck. The driver of the freightliner sustained moderate injuries and damages to his cargo. The driver of the Ford was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital for major injuries including head trauma, but his passenger succumbed to blunt force trauma to his body. Names of all involved are being withheld pending ongoing investigation.
