Gloria Mae Brown

Gloria Mae (Blackburn) Brown was born in Jefferson, Iowa on December 15, 1926. She passed away at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital on June 2, 2017. She was 90 years old. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Iowa. Gloria met & married Jack Brown in 1944. She was the beloved mother of four children. Tasty meals were always the norm as she raised her family. She was an excellent seamstress making many beautiful things to adorn her home as well as sewing for others while using her Singer sewing machine. She was an excellent homemaker. She also loved to read, being introduced to her first computer like book, the Kindle when she was a mere 80 years of age. She spent many happy hours reading. She was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene for numerous years while she resided in Ridgecrest.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Luella (Brower), and Fred Blackburn, husband Jack Brown, and sons Michael Brown (father of Sean, Michelle, Michael, Jackie and Paul) and Gregory Brown (wife Lucy, children Levi, Andrew, Rachael, and Micah) also her brothers Norman, Jerry, Hubert and Wayne Blackburn, and sister Lois Keith. Her sister Vivian Lawrence of Cedar Rapids, Iowa survives her. She is also survived by her daughters, Jeannette Ward (sons, Benjamin & Matthew), and Donna Randolph, (husband Rex, sons, James, Jeffrey and wife Tara, and Philip Randolph). Gloria leaves behind many great grandchildren and she was a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews as well.

A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, for 4 to 6 at Holland & Lyons Mortuary.

Gloria will be laid to rest in Whittier, California at Rose Hills Memorial Cemetery beside her husband, Jack.
