BHS honors exemplary studentsGraduating seniors Nicole Perry, Kevin Wonnacott, Emma Heflin and Alex Fisher receive highest honors in the 2017 Burroughs Exemplary Achievement awards. The awards were established in 2011 to recognize the school’s top students, who are nominated and selected by their teachers in specific areas of study. BHS gave out 30 certificates in 12 areas during the morning awards assembly on Monday, then recognized the top four in the evening ceremony. Perry was recognized for science, Wonnacott was recognized for mathematics, Heflin was recognized in liberal arts (including English, foreign language, history and social studies) and visual and performing art and Fisher was recognized for applied arts. The winners have excelled in the multiple classes they have taken within these areas and are exceptional representatives of the school’s overall educational mission. This year each received $250 in honor of the achievement. -- Courtesy photo
