Local bands to play May 13

Alas de Liona releases debut full-length album

Local bands to play May 13Local bands the Whatevers and the Antique Zephyrs will appear “together again” in concert on Saturday, May 13, at the Historic USO Building.

The concert will feature Alas de Liona as she releases her first full-length album “Lightning and Fire.”

Since the release of her EP “Augustine Drums” in 2014, this will be a chance to hear her latest songs, which blend folk and electronic styles.

A homegrown singer-songwriter, Alas began writing music as soon as she figured out how to strum guitar chords when she was 18.

She honed her craft by performing with other local musicians and debuting her material at Open Mic Nights.

Now her album is complete and she’s ready to share her music (as well as T-shirts and other merchandise) with her fans.

The Whatevers and Antique Zephyrs specialize in both old and new rock & roll favorites as well as some original songs.

“It will be a magical night filled with joyful noises and rich vocal harmonies,” said an event representative.

“Come hear what we have cooked up for your aural entertainment.”

Tickets are $10 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

The concert is presented by the Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert.
