‘Aladdin’ opens next weekend

‘Aladdin’ opens next weekendLocal young talent will take the community on a magic carpet ride next week, beginning April 27, as it presents “Aladdin KIDS,” an all-youth stage stage adaptation of the beloved Disney classic.

The show will be the Ridgecrest Musical Enrichment Society’s second “Rising Stars” performance after last year’s sell-out weekend of “Aristocats.”

Street rat Aladdin (Alex Vargas), the Princess Jasmine (Citali Tellez), Genie (Erin Robbins) and the villainous sorcerer Jafar (Geoffrey Brown) will be joined by nearly 60 other cast members to transport the audience to a whole new world with lots of music, adventure and laughs.

The main event will be preceded by a variety show gala to showcase some of the standout performances that the children brought to auditions earlier this year.

Additional performances are Friday, April 28, 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 29, 3 p.m., in the Burroughs High School Multi-Purpose Room. Tickets are $6 per RMES member, $7 reduced and $8 general admission.

Presale tickets are available only through the cast members so theater goers are encouraged to arrive early for limited at-the-door seating. For more info, see Facebook or visit www.rmesonline.com.
