To the Editor: Urges ‘more common sense’

First off I want to say I am not a bigot, racist, homophobe, or any other name you can come up with other than just a regular proud to be an American man.

I keep hearing and reading two things over and over in the news almost every day, and I am dumbfounded about what I am hearing/reading.

The talk about illegal aliens and who can use what bathroom, I don’t understand what the problem is. If you look up the word “Illegal”— I did in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary — it explains it as “Not lawful; not sanctioned by official rules.” So I don’t get where people are having a problem. Illegal means illegal. So if you are an illegal alien you are here illegally. It’s just black and white, not hard to understand.

Now you got to decide what you’re going to do about it. Quit hiding behind excuses and get started at getting yourself here legally, or wait and let someone else force your destiny. Personally I would rather not have someone else decide my destiny for me. Issue now resolved. So what is the problem there?

The other thing is about the bathroom issue. Come on, everyone — it’s not difficult to figure out. I could care less about your sexual preference, as long as you don’t try to force it upon others. Live and let live — just treat others as you would also like to be treated. In establishments there are usually two bathrooms, one for male and one for female. So if you have a penis, no matter what your sexual preference is, how you dress or what you consider yourself to be, you use the male restroom. Because no matter what you think or try to convince everyone else, you are not female you’re a male. Period! Issue now resolved. So what is the problem there?

Things were so much easier in the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, but in 2000 people started to overthink things that did not need to be overthought. So many of the problems going on today could be easily resolved if people just remembered to use common sense. Some days I don’t even want to watch the news or read the newspaper as it gives me a headache. And that’s a shame as I like to watch the news and read the paper.

So, come on guys, let’s see if we can all start to use just a little more common sense.
