Schools celebrate Dr. Seuss

Burroughs High School’s Drama Club performed for students at Immanuel Christian School in connection with the national “Read Across America,” an annual celebration of Dr. Seuss’ many contributions to increasing literacy. “It’s an amazing act of outreach by the high school theater students to all elementary students in Ridgecrest,” said Drama Instructor Tristan Kratz. “As actors, they know the power of words because their discipline centers on bringing words to life, turning words into action.” She said many of the performers still remember when the high schoolers visited them as elementary students. “It’s a beautiful legacy.” -- Photo by Laura Austin
