RC Kirkendoll

RC KirkendollRC Kirkendoll passed away on March 5, 2017, at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital with his family around him. RC was 85 years young.

He was born in Dustin, Okla., on Dec. 17, 1931, to Roy Clifford Kirkendoll and Amy Juanita (Robinson) Kirkendoll. He spent his childhood there and graduated from Dustin High School in 1950. He married his sweetheart Wanda in 1952 in Okmulgee, Okla.

He worked on pipeline construction jobs in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana until 1954 when he moved the family to Trona and went to work for the American Potash and Chemical Corporation. In 1961 he switched jobs to work for the Searles Valley Domestic Water Company.

The family moved to Ridgecrest in 1966 after he was hired by the Public Works Department at China Lake. He remained there until his retirement in 1993.

RC enjoyed horses, team roping, country music, rodeos and tending to his garden. However, his favorite pastime was sharing stories and visiting with friends.

RC was preceded in death by Wanda, his wife of 65 years; father Roy Kirkendoll; mother Amy Juanita Kirkendoll and sister Mary Jo Hamon.

He is survived by his daughter Sandi Alonge and husband Sam of Ridgecrest; son Randy Kirkendoll and wife Karen of Guadalupe; granddaughters Apryl Brown of Bakersfield and Robyn Poirier and husband Craig of Parker, Colo.; grandson Bobby Kirkendoll and McCall Parcell of Ridgecrest; granddaughters Carrie Reed and Ted Sherman of Rhode Island and Sarah Smith and husband Jeff of Victorville; and grandson Ryan Kirkendoll and wife Amanda of Arroyo Grande. He leaves behind great-grandchildren Emma Kirkendoll, Landry Kirkendoll, Colbie Poirier, Charlotte Poirier, Robbie Reed, Nick Reed, Austin Kirkendoll and Abygail Kirkendoll as well as special friends Freddie, Charity and Clyde Soules, and Uncle Arlie Kirkendoll. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and great friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Farinha, Dr. Rajartnam and their staff for all the care they gave RC over the years.

A memorial service will be held at the All Faith Chapel on Saturday, March 11, at 12:30 pm. A reception will follow in the east wing of the chapel.
