Dixie Chantler passed away Jan. 31, 2017. A Ridgecrest resident since 1973, she had friends throughout the Indian Wells Valley.

In the tradition of her mother and grandmother, Alice Carney, everyone was welcomed as family.

She graduated from Bakersfield High School and California State University, Bakersfield. Dixie worked for Kern County for many years and 18 years with Child Protective Services.
