‘Children in Art and Music’ will be Feb. 17
The Maturango Museum will present “Children in Art and Music,” by Sergio Ramirez and Catherine Douglas on Friday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Coso Gallery.
Ramirez was born and raised in Mexico City. He received a bachelor of science in business administration from Universidad Ibero-americana in Mexico City and a bachelor of arts in photography at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. He also holds a teaching credential and master of arts in art history at California State University, Los Angeles. He is a second-grade teacher at Inyokern Elementary School and has given art and photography classes at Cerro Coso Community College.
Douglas was raised in Circle-ville, Ohio. She earned a bachelor of arts from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and a master of arts from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She has been a soloist with the Capital University, Kings County Symphonies, the Cerro Coso Community Band and the Desert Community Orchestra, as well as at Music Teachers’ Association of California State Conventions.
She performs locally as a solo pianist, accompanist, member of the “We Friends” ensemble and organist. She is a retired music teacher.
