McDaniel to lead exercise at DAL meeting

The Desert Artists’ League will host an art program by Carolyn McDaniel at its Monday, Feb. 6, meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Nazarene Church.

“Attendees will be led through an exercise to draw figures in action,” said a DAL spokesperson.

“It will be a compilation of techniques to get proportions and gestures right. Bring paper and pencil to participate. It will be fun!”

McDaniel recently retired from the Trona Joint Unified School District after 33 years of teaching. She spent 13 years in elementary art lab and eight years in high school art and as yearbook adviser. The remainder of her years were in first and second grades, reading resource lab and remedial subjects.

She earned a bachelor of arts in fine arts from San Francisco State University and a master of arts from Claremont Graduate School in fine arts education and teaching credentials for high school art and elementary education.

She also holds an master’s degree in psychology from the University of Santa Monica.

“Her watercolors are notable, and she now has time to pursue art for pleasure,” said the spokesperson. “Interacting with artists and sharing refreshments, is always enjoyable, so plan to attend. Everyone is welcome.”
