Car Quest burglary suspect arrested

After investigating a burglary at Car Quest Auto Parts on North Balsam Street, officers of the Ridgecrest Police Department arrested suspect Tomas Ordonez, 40. According to the RPD release, it is unclear whether any additional suspects took part in the alleged burglary.

RPD officers began investigating the burglary early Monday morning, Jan. 23, when they learned that the suspect, or suspects, had allegedly forced open the rear door of the auto parts store, stole tools and cash from the registers and also attempted to remove a floor safe.

According to the release, the investigation led officers to the 200 block of West Panamint Avenue where they contacted Ordonez and located the pry tool believed to have been used to break into the store in addition to some of the suspected cash.

Ordonez is charged with second-degree burglary, a felony charge, and his next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 31, 10:30 a.m. in Ridgecrest. His bail is set at $35,000.
