Fong announces committee assignments

Assemblyman Vince Fong announced his committee assignments, including his naming as vice chair of Transportation.

“Fong’s leadership post in the Transportation Committee comes at a time when transportation infrastructure will be one of the highest priority issues facing the legislature in 2017,” said a spokesperson.

The committee oversees legislation related to transportation infrastructure, and the operation and licensing of vehicles, aircraft and vessels.

“Transportation is a critical part to our quality of life and our ability to move people, goods and products around our state is fundamental to the economic well-being of California,” said Fong.

“I will aggressively pursue solutions to improve and fix our egregiously outdated transportation infrastructure and the unacceptable condition of our highways, roads and bridges.”

Fong was also named to the Assembly Utilities and Energy Committee, the Budget Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Budget Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Transportation.

Serving on these committees provides Fong an opportunity to bring an important perspective to shape public policies that benefit Kern County.

“The hub of energy production for California is in my district,” said Fong.

“Too often, energy production’s vital role in our state is taken for granted, and the policies that come out of Sacramento are not in the best interest of Kern County.”
