RPD arrests four in two burglaries

The Ridgecrest Police Department arrested four suspects in two separate burglaries and thefts this week. According to releases from the department, Jose Baltierrez, 18, Tyler Macleay, 18 and an unnamed juvenile, 17, were arrested Monday, Jan. 16 for residential burglary and vehicle theft. Two days later, Eddie Ray Sanders, 37, was arrested for first-degree burglary and theft/use of debit cards.

On Monday, police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of East Upjohn Avenue regarding an off-road vehicle and two bicycles that had been taken from the garage during the night. Baltierrez, Macleay and the juvenile were located by officers a few blocks away from the scene where Baltierrez was riding the stolen quad. Baltierrez was then searched and found to be in possession of brass knuckles.

During the investigation, police learned that the suspects retrieved a garage door opener from an unlocked vehicle to gain access to the garage. The property was returned to the victim and the suspects were arrested and transported to Bakersfield and booked.

On Wednesday, officers were following up on a residential burglary of two debit cards. According to the release, video surveillance showed Sanders using the cards. When searching a residence known to be frequented by Sanders, police also located a stolen computer from a separate burglary.

Officers later located and arrested Sanders who was also transported to the Bakersfield Central Receiving Facility.
