College accepting nursing applicants

Cerro Coso Community College will accept applications, through Oct. 31 for its 12-month Accelerated Nursing Program. The course begins in January.

According to Bureau of Labor statistics, more than 580,000 new and replacement nurses will be in demand by the year 2018. The college program includes mandatory prerequisites to put students on the fast track to employment.

Applicants must schedule an appointment with the counseling department prior to the close of the application process. Counselors will evaluate the applications and confirm that minimum requirements have been met.

Upon confirmation of minimum qualifications, applicants will be scheduled to take a pre-admission test required for the application to be accepted. Last-minute applications may not be evaluated in time for the 2017 cohort.

Only complete applications meeting minimum requirements will be accepted as candidates for the 2017 cohort.

Students who complete the Accelerated Vocational Nursing Program will be qualified to sit for state board for LVN licensure.
