School board to meet tomorrow

The Sierra Sands Unified School District Board of Education will meet tomorrow, June 19, at 7 p.m. in Ridgecrest City Council Chambers.

The board is scheduled to hear an enrollment update from Super-intendent Joanna Rummer, as well as a report from Desert Area Teachers Association.

Public hearings are scheduled for the proposed local control accountability plan, the proposed budget and the DATA contract proposal.

Items up for discussion include an adjustment to middle school math courses to align to common core standards, an application for categorical funding, ratification of the DATA contract, ratification of the California School Employees Association contract and approval of salary schedules for management and confidential employees.

The board will also discuss upcoming travel related to the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will also be broadcast live on Mediacom channels 6 and 41.
