Man killed in accident
A Lancaster resident was killed Tuesday morning in an accident on Inyokern Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP reported that 24-year-old Chance Lara of Ridgecrest was driving a Ford F-350 eastbound on Inyokern Road, just east of Brady Street. Traffic reports indicate that the driver of a Mustang was approaching the Ford in the same lane, traveling the same direction, at a high rate of speed.
Reports indicate that Lara made an evasive left turn, but was still clipped by the Mustang. Upon impact the Mustang apparently rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof in the center divider, leaving car parts scattered in its wake. CHP reports indicate that Lara waited at the scene for emergency service personnel.
According to CHP officials, the driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin. His passenger, Gilesetban Fuesntes, sustained injuries and was airlifted to Kern Medical Center.
Lara reportedly sustained no injuries, and declined medical aid.
