Salter files motion for new trial
Jeremy Dale Salter, 39, filed a motion for a new trial on May 29. He was found guilty in Kern County Superior Court on May 14 of the first-degree murder of John Harley Evans of Inyokern.
Salter represented himself during the trial, which he subjected to repeated delays. Several motions and requests were made by Salter throughout the initial trial, including prosecutorial misconduct, request for attorney assistance, request for discovery and a request for a short delay for witness scheduling. Since none of these requests were made in a timely manner, they were denied.
Salter is scheduled for sentencing on June 12.Story First Published: 2014-06-04
