Graduations start this week in IWV

High schools in the Indian Wells Valley are holding graduation ceremonies beginning this week.

Friday, May 23

6 p.m.: Sierra Sands Unified School District Adult School will graduate a class of more than 60 students in the Parker Performing Arts Center at Burroughs High School.

“The Adult School program is such a great gift that our wonderful community offers to our students,” said Kristy McLaughlin, teacher. “Every graduate this year shares such a wonderful, unique story and they are a group of individuals who have had to overcome and face some exceptional hurdles and obstacles to get to be where they are today. They have all shown such bravery and dedication by coming back to school to finish the high school portion of their education. I feel truly honored as their teacher to be able to be a part of this journey with them all.”

Thursday, May 29

6 p.m.: Trona High School will have Academic Awards Night in the high school auditorium.

6:30 p.m., Mesquite High School will graduate 31 students in a ceremony to be held in the school’s courtyard.

6:30 p.m., Immanuel Christian School will graduate eight students in a ceremony in the Worship Center at Immanuel Baptist Church. “We’re definitely proud of our students,” said Kim Kramer, office manager. “I think we have a unique group of students who love and honor God through their achievements.”

Friday, May 30

8 p.m.; Burroughs High School will graduate 299 at the BHS Football Field. The band will begin to play at 7 p.m. as audience members take their seats. Recorded speeches from the graduating seniors will begin at 7:25 p.m.

Sunday, June 1

8 p.m.: Trona High School’s Baccalaureate ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Friday, June 6

8 p.m.; Trona High School will graduate 13 students in a ceremony to be held in the school gymnasium.
