Sanders faces felony charges
Brian Jay Sanders, 49, arrested April 7 in Ridgecrest, will go to trial June 30 in Bakersfield’s Metro Division. He is facing felony charges of transporting a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
Sanders was driving at 11 p.m. when h ran a stop sign in front of Ridgecrest Police Department Sgt. Justin Dampier’s patrol vehicle, then ran a second stop sign. After a speeding chase through a residential neighborhood, Sanders finally pulled over in the 1500 block of North Alene Street.
After searching Sanders’ vehicle, Dampier found a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and several thousand dollars in U.S. currency. Moreover, Sanders appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
There was an active warrant for his arrest on charges of driving with a suspended license.
He is being held in Lerdo Pretrial Facility in Bakersfield in lieu of $175,000 bail.Story First Published: 2014-05-21
