Action photographer to speak
The public is invited to the next meeting of the China Lake Photographic Society to hear Ken Sanger talk about action photography, with an emphasis on what he terms “rodeos, roping and riding.”
An avid sports photographer for most of his life, Sanger will illustrate the techniques that make his equestrian images stand out from all of the rest. His portfolio includes images of cowboys and cowgirls competing in bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling and bronc riding.
The meeting will be Thursday, April 3, at the Maturango Museum and begins at 7 p.m.; doors will open at 6:45 p.m. There is no fee for admission.
Sanger will offer tips on where to stand, how to frame pictures and what camera settings are usually best. He will show before-and-after images so that participants see firsthand how he edits his photos to achieve a distinctive appearance. He will also discuss the merits of taking pictures at practice events, where opportunities exist to perfect skill and obtain candid photos of participants and audiences.
