Chamber warns of phone scam
Some members of the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce are receiving scam phone calls from someone claiming to be from PG&E, telling members their gas service is about to be shut off for nonpayment, according to Chamber CEO Nathan Ahle.
“When pressed, the caller will say that due to a system upgrade, no payments were processed and ask for credit card information over the phone. When told that PG&E would be contacted, the caller hangs up. PG&E has confirmed that this is a scam. The chamber encourages everyone to contact PG&E directly if called, and never to give out credit card information over the phone without first verifying the source of the call.”Story First Published: 2014-04-02
