Barlow honored for 35 years
Steve Barlow, director of the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) Project, received a 35-year length of service award from Joan Johnson, director of NAWCWD’s Weapons and Energetics Division, at China Lake on Jan. 9.
Barlow started his federal service career in a Navy shipyard in 1978 after graduating from University of California Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He came to China Lake in 1989 and has provided production support on numerous weapons systems. He earned a master’s of mechanical engineering attending night classes at California State University Long Beach.
Positions he served in within the Rolling Airframe Missile Project Office included production manager, development manager, and RAM project director (2007).
In 2013 Barlow becamethe ESSM Project director. He is also a California registered professional engineer in mechanical engineering.Story First Published: 2014-03-12
