Toys fo Tots deadline is Dec. 10

The list of area children needing toys this year is long and time is running out to donate to the 2013 Toys for Tots drive. Drop boxes for toys are in all major retail stores and shops that sell toys in Ridgecrest.

U.S. Marine reservists will be on duty all this weekend at Walmart, Kmart, Walgreens and other location to receive unwrapped toys.

They will also be at Santa’s Art Shop and the Car Show at Desert Empire Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday.

“I’ll be starting on Dec. 10 to pick up the toy donation drop boxes all over town,” said Sgt. Austyn Butler, Ridgecrest-area Toys For Tots coordinator.

More than 700 children are on the list to receive toys this year, and sign-ups are still being held at the local Salvation Army from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Thursday.

“Those with children needing toys need to be sure to stop by and get added to our distribution list soon,” said Butler

The toy giveaway will be held on Dec. 14 at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds.
