’Tech Petting Zoo’ at library
Are you thinking of giving a tablet computer for Christmas? Thinking of getting one for yourself? The Ridgecrest Branch Library is part of a pilot project during the next several months to bring training on mobile devices to our community.
The “21st Century Kern: Training for Mobile Devices” grant allows staff to be trained on tablet computers to access the Kern County Library’s e-books, e-audiobooks and electronic databases. Library staffers will offer the first public program with four popular tablet computers on Friday, Dec. 6, at 2-3 p.m.
Librarians are calling this program a “Tech Petting Zoo.” Attendees can try out an Apple iPad 4, Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Barnes & Noble Nook HD and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 at this event. Please contact the library in advance to hold a seat to attend this program.
If you already have a mobile device and need help accessing the Kern County Library’s e-content, call for a one-on-one session. The best time for drop-in sessions is on Friday afternoons or other open days by appointment.
The Ridgecrest Branch Library is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m., except for holidays. Or call 760-384-5870 with your questions or to make a reservation.Story First Published: 2013-12-04
