Tree lighting set for Dec. 1

The 13th Annual Community Tree Lighting and Christmas Caroling event will take place Sunday, Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m. in front of City Hall, 100 W. California Ave. Everyone is welcome to join in this “Yuletide Welcome” hosted by Mayor Dan Clark.

The music and caroling program is organized by Daniel Peterson, a long-time music director in the Sierra Sands Unified School District and Cerro Coso Community College systems. Students from Murray Middle School and Burroughs High School will present Christmas selections.

The Altrusa, Lions, Exchange, Kiwanis, Optimist and Rotary clubs will create a “Christmas Tree Lane” in the City Hall lobby to be enjoyed by everyone during the holiday season. Club officials will light their decorated trees and City officials will light department trees.

The community tree, located in the city traffic circle, will be lit by special young person representing all local children. Attendees are invited to stay and enjoy refreshments — hot cider, coffee and cookies.For more information call 760-499-5015, Monday-Thursday anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
