Local man arrested, felon has gun

On Nov. 22, at about 4:15 a.m., Ridgecrest Police Officer Cushman observed a vehicle traveling in the 200 block of West Coso Avenue.

The vehicle made an abrupt right turn, traveled northbound and conducted several evasive maneuvers before pulling into a driveway in the 400 block of North Alvord Street.

Officer Cushman conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver as the driver attempted to enter the residence.

The driver was identified as Richard Schultz, 26, who had an active warrant for his arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed a .22 long rifle with the stock taken off and the barrel wrapped in a brown scarf.

Schultz had .22 ammunition and suspected methamphetamine on his person. He is a convicted felon. He was booked locally at the Kern County Jail.
