Chairs had to be added to accommodate nearly 200 people who brought full-house status to last weekend’s first conference on autism awareness. Ridgecrest Autism Awareness sponsored the event in conjunction with H.E.A.R.T.S. Connection. Those attending included families, school district personnel, medical staff, businessowners and other members of the community who wanted to understand more about autism. “We really appreciate the community coming together to become more educated about this important issue,” said Cherish Rindt, a coordinator with RAA. “Speaking for the families, I have to say it really means a lot that many school district personnel came on their own time for the sole purpose of learning more to better serve our children. We are very moved by their effort. This event set us on a great path to a brighter future for our community and we look forward to future endeavors.”
